Jaw War is a sessional inter-hall/inter-faculty debate that doubles as the biggest Public Speaking competition in Sub-Saharan Africa. It is the tournament that showcases the communication prowess of students representing their halls of residence and the faculties in a battle for the ultimate crown. This is the battle where words are swords. Where paired faculties and halls compete to slay each other in the war of the Jaws.
Since this annual event has been revived in 2014, members of the University community have experienced and witnessed the best of public speaking and debating Nigeria and in fact Africa. This competition has since, grown to be the biggest, most intense and most anticipated student event in the University after the matriculation and convocation ceremonies.
Jaw War has grown in leaps and bounds, with every edition beating the previous one. Needless to say that being the largest students’ organization event and biggest debate tournament in Sub-Saharan Africa, Jaw War hosts an audience of over 5000 people, 100 speakers with thousands more streaming and following the event live on social media and other streaming platforms.
